DeviantArt is an addiction of mine and I love it. I have not been able to get on much this semester because I have been so busy (last semester and all, woot!), but I try to get on for a bit sometimes. It is a little like Pintrest I think (I've never used Pintrest), but you get to go on and submit your own art but then you can also go through and select other peoples art that you like and "fave" it. You get your own personalized art collection and a place to show off your own artistic skills. You can submit anything from animation to literature. When we started this class, I thought a lot about deviantart and how it works, and I thought about how some of DA's features could be implemented with Din. They are very different, but they have some similar aspects to them. They both are a place to showcase artistic talent.

I had some friends in high school that loved deviantart.com, and it does have an interesting setup. If we had more time, it would be an interesting way to present the magazine.
ReplyDeleteI am now addicted to this website (as I have been to Pinterest for while now). I cannot seem to stop looking through and adding to favorites. It is a great place like you said to showcase talents.
ReplyDeleteI find Deviant Art to be a little odd. I don't find myself obsessed with it but when I get tired of my desktop images, I go to Deviant Art to get a new cool one and sometimes, the image can't be saved and that sucks. coming from a precious Art major, I feel like this site isn't adequate to fulfill needs but Obviously I am wrong considering the fan base. let's just say I've seen better art on other websites.

ReplyDeleteIt's a great site, and easy to use and interact with. Of course there are better art websites, (this is kind of like the place where amateurs go to get a small following), but some of the stuff that people put on this site is amazing. There are a lot of people with a lot of talent out there, and I sometimes go there just to get inspired about future projects.
